Dr. Andrew Jordan, NAGP Chairman, Chris Goodey, NAGP CEO and Tim Smyth, NAGP Head of Legal and Public Affairs, had a productive meeting with Dr. Kevin Kelleher and Dr. Brenda Corcoran of the National Immunisation Office on the 2nd June 2016. The meeting followed the letter issued by Dr Kevin Kelleher on the 26th April 2016 outlining proposed amendments to the Primary Childhood Immunisation Schedule.

The representatives from the NAGP and the National Immunisation office had a useful discussion and agreed that engagement on the proposed new schedule would continue.

Dr. Jordan, speaking following the meeting, said, “From the point of view of the NAGP, the meeting represented an opportunity to clearly articulate the issues from the perspective of our members up and down the country. This week, we are going to send a submission to the Department of Health, Health Service Executive and Department of Public Expenditure to outline the level of work involved in providing the additional services contained in the proposed schedule”.

Dr Kelleher said, “The meeting to discuss the HSE’s plans to introduce Meningococcal B and rotavirus vaccines to the childhood immunisation schedule was very constructive”.
