The NAGP’s inaugural Annual General Meeting takes place in Dublin next month and members are advised to register for the event and book hotel accommodation as soon as possible.

Leading academics and clinicians from Ireland and the UK will provide unique insights into health economics, universal healthcare and the future of general practice among other topics at the AGM at the Herbert Park Hotel in Dublin on Saturday, November 23rd, 2013.

The educational one-day event will include workshops and one-on-one advice forums covering legal, tax and personal finance.

As there is a rugby international on in Dublin the same weekend, members are advised to book their hotel accommodation early at The Association has agreed a special rate of €139 for bed and breakfast.

Our keynote speaker for the AGM is Dr Edward Walsh, founding President of the National University of Limerick and a freeman of the city of Limerick. He will be speaking on the topic of Adapting International Practice to Transform Irish Healthcare.

Dr Simon Mills, barrister-at-law, mediator and author will address the meeting on the intriguing topic of General Practice: An Outsider’s View while Julie Price of the Medical Protection Society will discuss The Ghosts of Repeat Prescribing.

Dr Tom O’Connor, Lecturer in Economics, Public Policy and Healthcare at Cork Institute of Technology will talk about Ignoring Your Own Policy and Evidence: the Government’s Attack on the Primary Care System.

During the afternoon session, Dr Christopher Poole, lecturer and researcher at Cardiff University and Dr Steve Davies, consultant endocrinologist at Cardiff University will present on the subjects of diabetes and health economics.

This will be followed by a workshop on tax advice presented by Roisin Duffy, senior tax advisor with Farrelly, Dawe and White Ltd and a workshop in income protection given by John O’Connor, MD of Omega Financial Management.
